love language

I'm not sure if you've heard of it but all of us speak a love language.  It's true!  We all have distinct ways that we like to be loved and it is how we translate the actions of others that we determine whether or not someone loves us.

Gary Chapman wrote a book entitled, The Five Love Languages.  While I have not read the book, I am a fairly self-aware person and have asked a lot of questions of the most scrutinizing person I know about how I receive love... my wife.  She of all people would know this the best, right?  The right answer and the real answer is "Yes." :-)

So, the five love languages according to Gary Chapman are as follows:

1) Words of affirmation
2) Quality time
3) Receiving gifts
4) Acts of service
5) Physical touch

While the premise is that we all have one prominent love language, each of these are enjoyed by all people to varying degrees.  If you would like to get an idea of which one might be your primary love language, there is a handy online assessment tool HERE.

Just for fun, here are my top two in order of most prominent:

1) Acts of service
2) Words of affirmation

What is your primary love language?  How have you seen this to be true in your life?
