Now, you may not like that I monitor comments but please consider the following: this blog/website was not started as a forum but rather a journal of my journey with Jesus that I hoped to share with my friends and family. However, I decided to not restrict my website to ONLY friends and family but still wanted to monitor the comments made here so that they were communicating unity and love and not discourse and anger.
Furthermore, I came across the following comment a long while ago while visiting Dan Kimball's website which reaffirmed my comment conviction:
"If I accept God and Jesus, I'd just as soon serve in a soup kitchen -and tell people God and Jesus. I'd talk about what the Bible says about lying, gossiping, homosexuality, marriage between a man and woman, drinking to excess-all the stuff....
but i'd stay away from all of you.
I want to show the love, without sacrificing the truth. Some of the truth I don't like, that don't mean it aint true."
This person was commenting on the other comments made (yes, I do see the irony), but they articulated EXACTLY the reason that I do monitor what gets posted here.
As if this wasn't enough, I frequent a blog/website by Anne Jackson and she had an unfortunate similar experience and decided to start monitoring her comments as well (read it here). I seriously recommend reading her full post!
To sum up Anne's thoughts, if comments don't represent love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness or self-control then the comments aren't posted. If there is any fighting or bickering or "cynicism" or "devisiveness in your tone" then the comments aren't posted. She concludes by saying if you don't like her decision then don't read her blog. Tough stand.
I have to admit... I have not experienced that level of commenting on this website, EVER! Thank God! However, I don't ever want to get to that point.
You have options to let your voice be heard. Feel free to comment. Feel free to email me (it's a link listed under my picture).
You are welcome to disagree with me but that does not mean that your comment will be posted and if you don't like it... start your own blog! :-)
Oh, and one more thing... if you choose to remain anonymous when commenting, your comment will not be posted. Own your thoughts. I own mine.
Alright, enough about the comments...
Peace.
