The following are my notes from the main session with Matt Carter of Austin Stone Community Church. This first session was themed, "Jesus is Lord" from the book, "The Forgotten Ways" by Alan Hirsch.
Each of the main sessions were preceded by a video by Alan Hirsch setting up the content. One of the things he said in this first video really stuck out to me. In fact, I didn't even write it down but I can still remember it. He said, "Jesus is Lord- an entire worldview in one sentence." He then corrected himself by saying that it was an entire worldview in only three words and it was entirely theologically sound.
Jesus is Lord.

"Missional community may be THE thing that defines this generation." Why?
"Missional community is the long awaited structure that the American church needs to unleash mission into lives; to awaken the sleeping giant of the American church."
"If missional community this the ONLY thing that we are remembered for... then we've failed."
"We may be tempted to love the mission more than the Savior, then the Savior will have nothing to do with our mission."
Matt then transitioned to the Bible by reading Revelation 2:1b-6:
Jesus is speaking... "(1) These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands: (2) I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. (3) You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. (4) Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. (5) Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. (6) But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate."
Revelation 2:1- Jesus is in the middle of the churches.
2:2- This church is a deep church with good theology.
2:3- The people at this church endured persecution and live on mission.
2:6- The people at this church are salt and light, not swayed by the culture.
2:4- They have left their first love, that is, Christ.
2:5- If Jesus is not the single most important thing in out churches... Jesus is no
longer going to be among our churches by removing His Spirit.
